Your Quantum Human Design Chart contains two distinctly different aspects: your soul purpose and your life purpose.
Your soul’s purpose relates to growth and expansion. Our souls manifest on Earth to experience whatever they need to experience to add growth to the Universe.
Your life purpose is the story of who you are in this incarnation—this life. This story is encoded in your energy blueprint and genetic and epigenetic lineage. At the moment of your birth, your soul purpose integrates with your life purpose to create the once-in-a-lifetime event that is you!
Each chart, calculated using your birthday, birth time, and birthplace, is essentially a map of how you process energy. It reveals your strengths and potential weaknesses, in addition to your gifts and talents. Most importantly, the chart tells the story of who you are, why you are here, and how you can live a life that’s true to you.
The story of your chart is the synthesis of everything found within it. The Five Quantum Human Design Types
Your Human Design Type is the role you play in the story of life. Your Type and your Inner Authority are determined by the “definition” in your HD Bodygraph (your birth info chart). Each Type has a natural strategy for how to interact with life.
In traditional Human Design, there are 4 Types: Manifestor, Generator (sub-type Manifesting Generator), Projector, Reflector. In Quantum Human Design, Karen Curry Parker separates the Generator Types into 2 groups for a total of 5 Types. The new QHD names for the 5 Types: Initiator, Alchemist, Time Bender, Orchestrator, Calibrator.
QHD Type: Initiator/Manifestor – 8% of population
Spiritual Purpose: Translate Divine Inspiration into Action
Quantum Purpose: To initiate people into the frequency of transformation and creativity through direct access to the Quantum Pulse
Emotional Theme: Peace to Anger
Strategy: To Inform (adult) / ask permission (child)
Initiators (Manifestors in Traditional Human Design) are powerful energy beings who are here to create. They have an internal, non-verbal creative flow and when they want to do something, they simply get into their creative flow and make it happen. Initiators can seem like fast-moving, independent people who just leap up and go do something. Our natural impulse when we see an Initiator on the move is to try to offer them our assistance or ask them what they’re doing. It takes a lot of energy for them to stop and find the words to tell you what they’re doing. When they do stop, they lose their creative flow, so they feel exasperated or even angry. Initiators need a lot of freedom to do what they feel inspired to do. Don’t be hurt if they seemingly don’t need you. They probably don’t and if they do, they’ll let you know.
QHD Type: Alchemist/Generator – 37% of population
Spiritual Purpose: Turn Inspiration into Form
Quantum Purpose: To physically manifest creativity and express through devotion
Emotional Theme: Satisfaction to Frustration
Strategy: To Respond
Alchemists are a group that constitutes about 37% of the population and is characterized by their dynamic energy and vitality. They possess a strong life force and are designed to be highly responsive to the world around them. They tend to excel at their work, with a surplus of energy available for their tasks. However, they must ensure that their work aligns with their passions and interests; otherwise, they may feel stuck and unfulfilled.
Alchemists have a defined Sacral Center that grants them access to a vast reservoir of life force energy. They are known for their ability to work tirelessly, but only when they are working in a field that they are passionate about. They derive satisfaction and fulfillment from using their energy to make a meaningful contribution to the world. They possess a strong gut instinct, which they should always listen to when making decisions. Alchemists thrive when they have a clear sense of direction and purpose but may become frustrated when they find themselves in situations that do not align with their values or interests.
QHD Type: Time Bender/Manifesting Generator – 33% of population
Spiritual Purpose: Turn Inspiration into Form
Quantum Purpose: To physically manifest creativity and speed up the quantum process and linear time
Emotional Theme: Satisfaction to Frustration/Anger
Strategy: To Respond, then Envision, Inform, then Act
Time Benders are a type of human design that combines the qualities of both Initiators and Alchemists. They make up about 33% of the population and are characterized by their ability to move quickly and multi-task. Like Alchemists, they have a defined Sacral Center, which provides them with a surplus of life force energy. This energy enables them to work with incredible speed and efficiency when they are engaged in activities that are aligned with their passions and interests. Time Benders possess a natural talent for finding the most direct path to their goals, and they can often accomplish things in a fraction of the time it would take others.
However, they can become bored easily if they are not challenged, and they must avoid getting stuck in situations that do not align with their passions or interests. They tend to work in bursts of energy and may switch between activities frequently. Time Benders also have a defined Throat Center, which means that they have a natural gift for communication and self-expression. They tend to speak quickly and may struggle to communicate effectively if they do not take the time to slow down and consider their words.
QHD Type: Orchestrator/Projector – 21% of population
Spiritual Purpose: To anchor the energetic template of what we are here to create, to align the energy of the world and heal the energy of the planet
Quantum Purpose: To hold the energy template of what’s to come and to clear the vibration of the collective consciousness
Emotional Theme: Success to Bitterness
Strategy: Wait for an Invitation with Recognition
Orchestrators make up about 21% of the population and are characterized by their ability to see and understand the big picture. They are natural guides and advisors and are here to help others navigate their lives. Orchestrators often have a very acute sense of awareness and intuition, which can make them very good at reading people and situations. However, they need to be invited into things before they can offer their guidance, or they risk being ignored or overlooked.
Orchestrators are a unique type of individuals in the QHD system. They do not have a defined Sacral Center, which means they do not have access to the same life force energy as Alchemists and Time Benders. Instead, Orchestrators are designed to guide and manage the energy of others. They have a natural ability to see and understand the gifts and talents of others and can use their wisdom and guidance to help them achieve their goals. Orchestrators are highly intuitive and perceptive, with a knack for seeing the big picture. However, they can become exhausted if they try to keep up with the fast-paced energy of Alchemists and Time Benders.
To thrive, Orchestrators need to take time to rest and recharge, and they should only engage in work and activities that align with their natural abilities and interests. With a deep understanding of their unique Human Design, Orchestrators can use their gifts to make a significant impact in the world.

Calibrators are the rarest type of individuals in the Human Design system, making up only about 1% of the population. They do not have any defined Centers in their Quantum Human Design chart, which means they are highly sensitive to the energy and environment around them. They are like a mirror, reflecting back the energy of the people and places they encounter. Calibrators have a unique ability to see things from many perspectives, which can make them highly empathetic and intuitive. They often need time and space to process the energy around them, as well as to make decisions that are in alignment with their inner truth. Calibrators are highly influenced by their environment and should be mindful of who they spend time with and where they go, as this can greatly impact their energy and wellbeing. A Brief History of Human Design
Alan Robert Krakower developed the Human Design system after a mystical experience in 1987. He published a book called The Human Design System in 1992 under the pseudonym Ra Uru Hu. This system suggests that by understanding one’s design, individuals can align with their authentic selves, enhancing their personal and professional lives.
Karen Curry Parker, who studied and practiced this original version of Human Design with Ra Uru Hu as one of his first students, revolutionized the accessibility and practical application of Human Design with her creation of Quantum Human Design. This contemporary and inclusive interpretation enhances the original system, making it more relevant for all. Lisa Foresman is a Quantum Human Design Specialist trained by Karen Curry-Parker.
